COIN AND CURRENCY SHOW

Fredericksburg, VA --The Virginia Numismatic Association will hold its 53rd annual convention, coin and currency show, September 23-25 (Friday, 10:00 AM to 6:00PM, Saturday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Sunday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM) at the Fredericksburg Expo & Conference Center, 2371 Carl D. Silver Pkwy, Fredericksburg, VA 22401.  This is a change of venue from the Richmond location of the past three years.

The VNA coin show is the largest in Virginia.  Dealers at 110+ tables will offer U.S. and foreign coins and paper money, ancients, gold and silver, Civil War currency, tokens, medals, supplies, and other items.  In addition to buying, selling, and trading of numismatic items, the SEGS grading service and free appraisals and authentication will be available.  Stack’s Bowers will be on hand to accept items for their auctions.

Exhibits of numismatic materials will be a special attraction with some focusing on the 150th anniversary of the Civil War.  There will be several educational talks by experts.  Young coin collectors will find fun activities at the youth table.  A Boy Scout coin collecting badge workshop will be held on September 24, 1-3:00 PM.

Beth Deisher, editor of Coin World and author of Making the Grade and other numismatic publications, will be the guest speaker at the awards banquet on September 24 (advance reservation required).  Her topic is "Stories behind the Headlines...2011 in the Numismatic Realm"

Admission and parking are free for the coin show and convention events.  Pre-show “early bird” admission is $35 during dealer setup starting at 3:00 PM on September 22.  Raffle tickets will be sold in books of 11 for a $10 contribution to support VNA’s educational work.  There will be hourly drawings for numismatic items and for a gold coin prize at the end of the show.
